Dr. Kayla I. Bean, Senior Scientist, Cell Line DevelopmentAGC Biologics harnesses its R&D centers to bring modern and efficient approaches to development and manufacturing. Our dedicated R&D centers work alongside our teams at our seven global sites to determine the best strategies and procedures to push forward our mission of quality product delivery. Through this collaboration between our R&D teams, research and development scientists, and process development teams AGC Biologics ensures that innovation is constantly driving our processes, so we can provide the most up to date technology for early and late-stage clients. Our R&D center plays an integral part in the new offerings that will be coming to AGC Biologics platforms by focusing on increasing mass, increased speed to market, and overall process intensification.
Currently, our R&D scientists are working to enhance our bioprocess approach by applying new equipment and knowledge in areas like cell line, upstream, analytical, and downstream development to intensify our procedures while decreasing workflow timelines. AGC Biologics is utilizing the R&D division to increase our speed to market for clients. By implementing lean, innovative, and efficient practices, R&D initiatives are helping AGC Biologics provide advantageous offerings and superior results to customers.
The R&D team is currently implementing new strategies for high-throughput titer assessment to pinpoint high-producing monoclonal cell lines with very efficient timelines to maximize cell line development while trimming weeks off delivery.
Leveraging our proprietary CHEF1™ Expression Technology, efficient protein production has driven our strong partnerships with customers across the pharmaceutical industry. While additional options will be available in the future, the R&D team is also placing a significant investment to optimize our current CHEF1 platform for process improvements as well to increase its capacity. For example, R&D is working on concentrated fed-batch options, new media formulations for increased production in addition to new ways of analyzing culture metabolites to provide unique solutions for each project. The ability to evaluate individual parameters of a therapeutics development will greatly benefit our process development team to bring dynamic results for client products. Our scientists are also assessing new purification methods for single-use membrane-based Protein A options to potentially decrease timelines and cost with added reliability for purity and quality. By employing efficient procedures, coupled with advanced technology, AGC Biologics is evolving our process development platforms, so that top-quality products can be brought to market faster.
